Which is it called? Here is why Time magazine uses Burma:
[NOTE: The junta that runs the country imposed a systematic name change several years ago, decreeing that Burma was to be called Myanmar and the capital Rangoon was to be Yangon. The opposition has never accepted these changes; neither has the U.S. government. TIME continues to use Burma and Rangoon.]
Burma it is.

I was wondering about that myself. When Bush referred to Myanmar as Burma, I figured "well he gets another F in geography," but there's probably reams of lists of "This is what we call this country" at the State Department. It's funny how the U.S. didn't recognize USSR until the 1930s and communist China until the early 1970s -- so until then I guess they just didn't appear on maps sold in America?
