Introductions

Well, hello there.

I’m Elena, the new blogger. Since the current Ink Slinger is graduating this semester, I’m taking over — and I have some pretty big shoes to fill.

Let me introduce myself. Here are a few things you should know about me. (These are the reasons I'm writing in this blog.)
1) I have the travel bug. Exactly one year ago, I was eating my (sushi) Thanksgiving dinner in Tokyo, Japan. Other notable experiences: backpacking across China to the border of Kazakhstan; drinking yak butter tea in a village on the Tibetan plateau; climbing the Great Wall of China; and camping in the Gobi desert. I will be studying in Paris throughout June, and hope to visit London in July. My experiences abroad have made me interested in foreign cultures and international politics.
2) I am currently enrolled in Journalism of Genocide, and it is the most influential class I have taken at the university. (If you’re still an undergraduate, take it.) It is another reason why I became passionate about international politics.
3) I do have some journalism experience. I started writing during my sophomore year as a staff reporter at The Review. (While I was abroad during the Fall semester of my junior year, I took a break from journalism and concentrated on my experiences abroad.) I continued to write for The Review during the Spring semester, when I returned from my trip. Over the summer, I worked at Philadelphia magazine as an online editorial intern. This semester, I again worked for The Review. But this time, I was the Student Affairs Editor.

Also, I love getting feedback on my work. (So feel free to comment.)

Happy reading.
