Just Kidding!

On Monday, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said he supported a plan which would pause U.S. troop cuts in Iraq.

This left me confused. Wasn't it just in September that President George W. Bush gave an uplifting speech about how "conditions on the ground in Iraq have improved sufficiently to start bringing some U.S. troops home?" And whatever happened to urging "Americans divided over the war to 'come together?' "

Seems like I'm not the only baffled American.

Democratic nominee hopefuls, Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama, were fast to criticize Gates' decision.

Obama said the United States should not be expected to fight a war without end in Iraq, while Clinton said it was time to get US forces out of the middle of a "civil war."

Whoever is elected, I hope he or she remains steadfast unlike those flip-floppers in Washington.
